What is Virtualization?

Virtualization is the concept of running several operating system instances on one physical machine. Each operating system instance is a virtual machine. Each virtual machine (VM) operates side by side on the physical hardware, yet is independent and unaware of another VM’s existence. The VM’s share the resources of the physical machine allowing for maximum efficiency.
